Satellite Tribeca

Kevin Draper, I Make Bicycles For Everyone, 2023.

101 Reade Street, New York, NY 10013, United States

When established in 2019, the Satellite Collective gathered together visual artists, writers, composers, and dancers to create multidisciplinary work. The collective has since expanded, creating dance and arts nonprofits. Led by the artistic director Kevin Draper, the collective aims to “grow artists” by helping them develop visual works, performances, and collaborations. This May, Satellite presents pieces from various disciplines for two weekends. Prints, projections, film, and photographs will be displayed in the intimacy of a gallery, where musical and dance numbers will also be performed. Satellite Tribeca includes works like Upstream, a piece for violin and piano by the Juilliard-trained composers George Meyer and Will Healy (who won the 2023 Leonard Bernstein Award), and welcomes the Sad Blimp Twins—“a pair of forty foot long blimps coming to New York for the first time as Satellite’s official mascots.” —Jeanne Malle
